Reaching out to the Republic of Uganda

Uganda:

The best way to measure results is from feed back. In the next few weeks I will have all the pictures together to be posted, but till then I would like for everyone know the feedback we  have received.

While in Uganda, besides preaching in two churches on the first Sunday I was there and doing some street ministry I was honored to lead a pastors conference in a remote village where no outside Christian had been in almost 10 years.  Everyday we would have at least 70 pastors attending, but the crowd would be over 200 people that spread outside the covering of a make shift arbor in a village called Mangola. This village was 1 1/2 hours drive on a winding dirt road where electricity stopped almost as soon as we left the hard road.

This first writing is from the pastor from this area. His church is a rectangular mud hut with a thatched room and dirt floor.

Dear Pastor John,
Thank you very much for the teachings at our church - Magoola. Pastor's  and other leaders where very happy for the teaching and we where also very much encouraged by teachings. But i decided to request you to start with me a mission in Uganda. If not , you can get me any person who teach like you and i start a mission with him or her. I was touched by your teachings .

Pr. Emmanuel Waiswa

After his e-mail I replied, this is his response.

This next young pastor served as one of my interpreter. I had three that helped me through the week. I must be hard on interpreters for them to supply three, maybe it is because I teach  2 hour sessions with out stopping.

GREETINGS TO PASTOR JOHN

Dear sir

I thank God for your love that you showed to us pastors and leaders of this region mainly to us your interpreters. Really I still recall the way you taught the Bible staffs and the way you handed to me the new Bicycle, clothes, neck ties and a K.J.V holy Bible. Writing this letter, I hope that your way back home with the whole team that you were with was so safe.

Let us keep in touch for more communications, prayers that I may also fulfill the grate commission. I am waiting for you reply and fun too.

Yours Pastor Nsawo Paul (your interpreter)

Bye

I had two interpreters named Paul so I wanted to be sure of which one I was writing to so I asked a few questions, this is his second response.

To Pastor John Davis,
Its good to receive your reply, I thank God that flew with you from Uganda back to your home, though it is a long trip. I send my greetings to your family and I would like to know your family members for prayers..
I am Paul whose tooth was pulled out on Friday, I thank God for John Mulalu who pulled out the tooth for a period of about three hours and above Because he had to make sure that the tooth had to come out safely after the broken head of the tooth and then the roots divided into parts then all were out. I thank God for your handing me a new bicycle, a new shirt, neck ties and a new KJV Holly Bible and the bible staffs which made me qualify you a doctor theologically. I need your prayers that I may also join a theological Institute and get one to sponsor me in that area. So please download me the drum Picture that you travel with while doing native gatherings and remind me of your tribe, home area, Is it far away from the air field town and what is that air field town? and If so which town is near you?

Please keep in touch and I look forward in God so that He may provide you the opportunity to be back here. For I and all the pastors and the church leaders. Yarning to receive you physically with your bible staffs.

Be blessed
Pastor Nsawo Paul

This last writing is from my primary interpreter. He is from a small island fishing village and has 80 people attending his church. He a young pastor that feels he has been pushed aside by the older pastors because of his age. I will be working with him to set up a way to send regular support for him. The area that he is in, is one of the highest for AIDS and malaria. He asked me for a Ugandan Bible and before I left I gave one to a pastor in Jinga to give to him, but he had not yet received it.

TO PASTOR JOHN DAVIS

IN AMERICA :

Praise God Pastor. This is yours Brother from Uganda where you had the last conference in a place called Magoola, who was translating you while preaching, the one from the lake shores, (Islands) and lastly whom you told to send you an email, Brother MWANJE GEOFREY.

How are you doing in America together with all the Brethren? Hope you are doing well. Indeed we were so blessed with your teachings and there are many changes since when you left Uganda , because of what you taught us. Pastor John I also thank you the shillings that you gave unto me. It helped me indeed to solve some problems, God blessed you. And you promised me again Bibles for the church members.

These pastors have been prosecuted by the Muslim religion because of there poverty. Money has been sent from the Middle East to build large temples, fiances or bicycles given to the people if they will convert to the Muslim religion. The people that have "converted" have told the pastors, look what we have, what has your God provided for you.

Jesus said, Blessed is the one that is persecuted in my name. Everyday in my teaching I would re-affirm this message, the message to endure, for our treasure is with the Lord in Heaven.

Please pray for these pastors and for myself as I press forward into the call to reach out to Indigenous people. I have already began to press forward in returning to teach on a regular basis as they have asked of me. But the finances must come before I can return. I know that God will supply and you can be a part of this.

Be Blesses,

John Davis
