Subject: Prayer request for 6 year old Kate Stephens

   This is an appeal for urgent, sincere prayer for a successful recovery of the health of 6 year old Kate Stephens.   Kate's dad Willie is a full time paramedic at Stephens County (Georgia) EMS. He also works part time at Hart County EMS.  Her mother's name is Wendy, and she has a brother named Jake that is about 6 years older than she is.  
     Recently Kate had been complaining about severe headaches.  Her parents had been taking her for tests to try and diagnose the reason. 

This week, while her school was on spring break, her family took a little trip to Asheville, NC.  On Wednesday, April 2, while on a trip to The Biltmore House, Kate began to have seizures.  She was flown to Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, where the doctors tried to get the seizures to halt. 

The seizures continued for at least 16 straight hours. After being placed in the ICU, she had to be put on a ventilator, and a central line was put in for the administration of medicines and fluids.  A spinal tap was performed on her which did not reveal any pathology that would cause the seizure activity.

A CT of the brain showed an increase of fluid on the brain, and the cause of this is not known yet.  She has also being continuously monitored by EEG (this shows electrical activity of the brain).  At this time, it is unknown if she is going to suffer from any neurological deficits as a result of a lack of oxygen during the seizures.

      As you can imagine, this child's family is devastated. As the saying goes, 'they just don't come any better than them'.  Willie is a brilliant paramedic who has made a career of administering emergency medical help to whoever may need him, wherever he is.  He adores his little girl, as well as taking a great interest in Jake's athletics.  He is dedicated to his wife and family. Wendy holds the fort down while Willie works those dreaded 24 hour shifts.  Jake is hurting and is full of worry about his little sister.  
      Kate's birthday is in 2 weeks.   God is still in the miracle business. 

Just because modern medicine doesn't know what is wrong with her, that doesn't mean that she can't make a full recovery.  We could not even begin to imagine what miracles God can do on behalf of this young life.  Could every single person with the ability of just breathing, whisper a prayer for Kate?  Let people all over pull together on behalf of this loving family.   Pray that the world would just be amazed by the miracles that this child will receive. 

Pray that her family's strength can be renewed just knowing that Kate is in the warm cup of God's hand.   Pray that Kate's healing can be a phenomenal testimony to believers and non-believers alike.
